2009 Press Release: July 4 Refuse Collection Schedule

Des Plaines residents are reminded that Des Plaines City Hall, 1420 Miner Street, will be closed on Friday, July 3, 2009 in observation of Independence Day. Residential garbage and recycling collection, however, will NOT be interrupted. Those residents who have Friday refuse collection will still have service on Friday, July 3, 2009.

Des Plaines residents are reminded that City ordinance (M-26-96) states all garbage and recycling carts and items must be placed at the curbside before 6 AM on collection day. Items may not be placed at the curbside prior to 6 PM. Refuse containers, or uncollected refuse due to neglect of requirements, must be removed from the curb by the end of collection day and kept in the garage or in a reasonable location within the side or rear yard. Carts cannot be stored in the front yard.
